Sermon for the Children: Doing Good Deeds
In a special message to our Sunday School children, Father Andrew speaks about our role on this earth to do good things:
What comes to your mind when we talk about money? We think about buying stuff from the stores. Money helps us live or survive. We use the money to buy what we want. Money gives you food, clothes. And anything you want. We can eat and help others with donations.
Money could be good, and with it we can help the needy. But money could be bad if we use it in bad ways. We buy bad things like guns, drugs and alcohol and hurt our bodies. But if we are good people, we will use the money in good ways. Jesus said, “the love of money is bad.”
St. Paul said “for the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”
When people die, can they take their money with them? No, but if we help poor people, build the church, help the word of God everywhere, we are taking money from earthly to heavenly treasure.
