From Father Andrew Bahhi: God Will Never Forsake or Forget You
We thank our heavenly father for all the blessings he gives us every day. We believe in the almighty. And He said, “I will never forsake you or forget you for all the days of your life until I come again.”
We need to hear these verses, especially in these days. For when God is with us, nobody can be against us.
Today’s the third Sunday of the great Lent, and we commemorate the healing of the paralytic man. It reminds us there is nothing that can help us except our savior Jesus Christ.
The house of this story, where Jesus entered, was a very lucky house because God entered that house. And everyone who arrived that day heard about Jesus and the miracles that he had done.
First, there is the paralytic man, who is the one who cannot walk, and his four friends. And when we have good friends, good people, who know Jesus, they can help us. These four friends decided to carry their friend and take them to Jesus. They tried to think out of the box to find a solution and bring their friend to Jesus – and there was no way to Jesus except through the roof.
When Jesus saw the faith of the 4 friends, He said, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” What beautiful comfort this verse was to hear from the almighty one. He looked to the paralytic, because of the faith of his friends.
When Jesus saw their faith and loyalty, He forgave the sins of the paralytic man.
It is said that the four people represent the four gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
The Bible will never forsake us or leave us alone. Instead, it will bring us closer to Jesus. Those four friends were able to uncover sin. And this is what the Bible does exactly. It uncovers the veil.
So, reading the Bible, praying, receiving communion, going to church. It will help to uncover the blindness because of the sin. When we read the Bible, our eyes open and then we can see Jesus.
Some in the room were pharisees and scribes, looking for anything to blame Jesus. So, Jesus, knowing what they were thinking, said in Matthew 9:5:
For which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say ‘Arise and walk’?
You all know the son of man has authority over the sin. That means the miracle happened when the forgiveness happened.
We need the power of Jesus, who is God, in our life. Not because we are paralytic physically. But maybe because our mind is paralytic.
If we believe in Jesus, He is the only one to broadcast the news. The Good News that He is the only one to conquer the fear, anxiety and panic that is in the world today.
We have the power of the almighty one with us. He for sure will guarantee us forgiveness, strength, and comfort.
He has the power and authority to calm this storm and give us comfort. The church is the boat in the midst of the storm. Whoever is in the boat, like Noah’s ark, will be saved.
So I encourage you, and tell all the friends that you know. Please, every day, open the Bible to the New Testament. Read the psalms of David and read it as a family. Allow the power and the faith and the Holy Spirit to pass through us.
Don’t be scared. Rather, have faith that the one who is protecting His people and church throughout history is still with you, me and with His church.
