From Father Andrew Bahhi: Make Christmas 2018 Your Turning Point
Merry Christmas. Like the angel who came to the shepherds and declared upon the birth of Jesus “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:14)
After that, a multitude of angels came to tell the good news of the savior.
This feast is a feast of the most important event to happen on this earth. Since Adam and Eve left paradise, God said the seed of the women would come and crush the hate of the serpent.
God then chose a very special woman, Mary, and sent his only begotten son to save the world.
But what does Christmas mean to you? If we look at the nativity, which most people have in their homes, we see Joseph, Mary, the shepherds, and the wise men. When we look to what it means to these people, we understand Christmas and its meaning.
It was a turning point.
Those people were just a few, but those who attended that day were waiting in faith.
Let’s talk about the wise men. If we read their story in Matthew 2, we see these people are from Persia, coming all the way from the east. It is a journey of 1.5-2 years. The Bible calls them kings, too. And they were rich, too.
And yet they left it all behind to go to an unknown place, following a star. Who cares about these things?
But these people had strong faith in their heart the real king would come. And the Bible said they came to worship the new king.
Then being divinely warned in a dream, they were told to depart for home a different way. (Matthew 2:12).
Shepherds, too, were changed: “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.” (Luke 2:20)
What about you?
When you meet Jesus, He will change your life and make you walk in a different – spiritual – way with repentance. When we talk about Christmas, we talk about the turning point. He will change your life, and the way you behave for the better.
Christmas is a call for all the people to change their ways by Jesus’s power and authority. We need to go back to Jesus. Go back to that baby born today.
