From Father Andrew Bahhi: Releasing Ourselves from Anger
The Bible calls Jesus the Prince of Peace, the King of the Peace in this world. The opposite of peace is anger. If we have anger in our heart toward each other, the Bible encourages us to have peace in our heart, Jesus in our heart, and you will see Jesus come into your life.
Jesus reminds us that the Old Testament says you shall not murder, but Jesus also equates anger with murder. In the New Testament he says, whoever is angry with his brother is in danger of judgement. According to the New Testament, you are also a murderer. Even if you speak of people badly, the Bible said you are in danger of hell fire. Jesus is heightening the bar for how to deal with each other as Christians.
When we get angry, the distance between our hearts will grow. When two people are in love, the distance is so close that they are one – this is what happens between husband and wife.
In the Book of James 1:20, it says “Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.” When we are angry, we curse and make wrong decisions. God’s desire is to have love and peace between each other.
In Ephesians, “in your anger do not sin” – St. Paul says. It is ok to express emotion but be wise in your emotion. “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger,” Proverbs 15:1. A wise person knows not to turn an anger into a big fight. The Bible says blessed are the peacemakers. Be a peacemaker!
Your salvation is worth the sacrifice.
If not, you will be angry, lose your temper and then your dignity will not allow you to say “I’m sorry.”
Do not let the sun go down on your anger. Successful married couples will never ever say good night with anger. The peace in the home should come from both sides.
When Jesus was crucified, they spit on him, cursed him, hit him. But he stayed quiet. He asked his father to forgive them.
Please do not lose your eternity for any reason.
