From Father Andrew Bahhi: Love God Like a Child
When I look to the cross, I see Jesus not only was crucified for us, but he is telling us his heart, his bosom us open for us. For every and each one of us. The only thing we need is to believe in him, run to him and receive his blessing.
Especially the parents among us, when you come back from a long day of work or travel, and you come back home. When your children run to you, that is the most noble thing. The same thing for your heavenly father — run to him.
When Jesus was talking with his disciples in Mark 10:15, he said: “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”
In Matthew 18:3, Jesus also says “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”
When he says “Truly” – he wants to emphasize something very important. Jesus also put a condition to convert and change into children, when he says “unless.”
Jesus says to the people of his time, “You try to know a lot. And you think by this knowledge, you will be able to come to the kingdom of God.
But coming to the kingdom of God will only happen by being pure and simple, and not only that, you have to have a heart like a child’s heart.”
Children trust you very fast. They don’t think. They only think by their emotion. God says you must trust in him the same way, which is the way children trust in their parents. We have to know when our father says, “come to me,” my hand is open for you. Just have faith in him and throw himself to him. Have faith in him like a baby, and you will be able to inherit the kingdom of God.
Society and the environment corrupted our simplicity and innocence. A lot of people try to put God under the microscope, but God says you have to be simple and innocent to see me. Children think without too much detail – they think simply.
Have a simple heart and innocent heart. When you look to children, learn from them and you will see how their simplicity will teach you.
